How do you ask your neighbor above you to please stop throwing her cigareet butts below onto your porch?

She throws parties that last till 4am, the music is loud and there is stomping above me...the noise drives me crazy, plus they go out onto the balcony and smoke and then throw their cigareets below onto my porch into my flower pots and grass area.

Should I complain to her first before going to the landlord...??

Yeah, I'd politely ask her. Heck, even give her an ashtray as a gift when you ask her to not throw her butts on the ground.



If this doesn't work, contact your landlord.



If that doesnt work, call the police.
Reply:No, you should talk to the landlord. While it seems like the polite thing to deal directly with your neighbor, it's much better to go through the landlord. If she turns angry or violent you want the landlord to be a witness and leave a paper trail.



(Note: I'm not saying she will become violent or angry, but highly charged tenant disputes are not as rare as one would like to believe, and it's best to deal with the landlord just in case there is a problem)
Reply:Make sure that you research local ordinances first. Most likely she is breaking many. There are laws about noise, how many people a balcony will hold and littering. Put something in writing to the landlord. This way if it gets worse or the landlord ignores your note you can take it to the city counsel or local renters counsel and have it taken seriously.

Reply:Do what i did when it happened to my sister. I simply collected a weeks worth and posted them all back through the dudes letter box with a note saying, ''I think you dropped something'' Never saw another cigarette butt again after that.

Reply:Your neighbour is a pinhead. Collect all the cigarette butts. Put them in an empty flower pot. Go upstairs and knock on her door. When she answers, dump them on the b*tch.
