If you know a smoker, have them save you cigarette butts in a can, soak them in water, and water your plants with it. Nicotine is one of the oldest insecticides, it will kill bugs and not harm plants. Haven't tried it on ants, but it worked for little fruit flies in my houseplants.
Reply:Ants are pests always in any type of garden. They spread disease indirectly by herding aphids around. Aphids suck the plant sap out of seedlings and cause black molds to appear on older, soft plants. If you'd like to get rid of them, I'd suggest you visit this website for environmentally friendly alternatives to ridding your pest problem: http://www.thefrugallife.com/ants.html Good luck! :-)
Reply:had the same problem today.

i repotted the plants after shakeing the ants off well away from my garden.
Reply:Find some kind of bug that eats ants or get an ant eater
