Need to know the care of an Amorilis flower/bulb that is now completed the bloom cycle.?

A pot with 3 Amorilis bulbs {large ones} was given to my Mother in a elderly care facility. The blooming is complete, and it only has leaves. Please tell me what to do, to 'bring it back to bloom' at another time. Thanks

You sound like you have amaryllis bulbs , After they have bloomed you will have large leaves that feed your bulb and bloom for next year at the end of the growing season or fall let the pot dry up to store the energy for next bloom season , I say next bloom season because you can get them to bloom in the winter after a 6 to 8 week rest , put them on there sides pot and all after the leaves have dried up don,t cut the stem off too close to the bulb top or you can injure the sleeping bud in the bulb and stay away from high nitrogen when not in bloom as this makes a week stem and floppy leaves and no bloom I use a liquid fish or sea weed fertilizer I have a amyrillys bulb thats 20 yrs old I have a pitcure with my daughter sitting by it for xmas All I do is after I dry it down I put it an its side for a rest for 6 to 8 weeks and then I look at the calender and count 6 to 8weeks when I want it to bloom and I start to water it and You can get pretty close to your bloom time have fun
Reply:Here in Texas, we just plant them in the yard. We've about six ready to bloom right now.
Reply:May be the plant needs to be repotted into a bigger Pot ?
