Clay to be used for handbuilding at home.?

I really have gotten into handbuilding, especially coiling, and I want to get clay for at home, but I do not have a kiln. What type of clay can I use that does not need to be fired, but is durable, and can be used as say, a flower pot. Where can I get this clay. Any info about clay for handbuilding at home would be awesome

I've not used the non-bake clays before - just the fire types. But there should be some websites out there that sell the non-baking pottery clay, as used by the American Indians. Even then, I'd imagine that they sometimes put them in an oven to make the stuff a little more waterproof.

I haven't the secret that the old women of ancient cultures know about how to make durable pottery by just baking them in the sun. But perhaps there are workshops nearby that you can join for....$40 a month, just to use the electirc potters wheel and the kiln. We have that in here Honolulu.
