Yes, I know safety officials say that you should never hide a house key outside, but... Do you have any ideas other than under the doormat, flower pot, etc? I also have a garage with lots of storage. Any innovative ideas for containers to keep the key in, other than magnetic key holders, fake rocks, etc?
Best place to hide your house key outside? Innovative Ideas, please!?
HANG IT ON YOUR DOG'S COLLAR! THE BEST PLACE!
Reply:stick it in a light fixture or tape it or stick it with silly puddy to the bottom of the door
Reply:I hide mine in my neighbors yard and hers in mine. So if someone finds it, it won't fit the lock to the house.
Reply:Go to a joke store and buy some fake crap. Put it under that!
Reply:I have a brick edging around the flower bed next to my front door. One of the bricks is fake with a little hidden compartment for the key. The brick looks so real that it blends in with the rest of the bricks and no one is the wiser.
Reply:Visit your local Garden Centre, some of them sell products just for this purpose, Fake Rocks with slide holes in the bottom, even garden statues with slides underneath that you can hide your key in. I have one in that looks like a large snail, the key hides in the bottom.
Reply:in plastic bag rolled into sq. block of sod, under bird bath, in bird
nest, bird feeder, under patio rock, taped under lawn furniture,
inside garbage can, inside doghouse, in flowerbed, taped to windchimes,
Reply:where did you say you lived? lol. find a place that is easy to get to but private enought for others not to see where you put it and retrive it from. find a place in garage where you can hide it but whut happens if the garage is locked?? put them in a jar of junk so if found peeps think they are old keys no longer in use
Reply:Just put it under mulch in a potted plant.
BTW...where do you live?
LOL
Reply:We used to keep it in a film can that we hid under a divider board in the back yard
Reply:umm...
get a decoration and stick it on the back
Reply:1.buy a magnetic key holder box, and place it under the metal box that holds your Electric Meter- 2. Pin it to a Tree 3. drill a tiny screw hole in a downspout, hold it there with a tiny screw thumb tight. out of site of course. 4. If you have a curb Water box, place it in there under something not in view.
Reply:beleive it or not your taking a chance ,if you have a druggie neigbor they watch your every move then don`t care and rob you blind,, in other words make sure you don`t let anyone see you put the object down.
Reply:extra key in the car's glove box works for me or in a bird feeder if you have a habit of getting locked out it wont draw a lot attention especially if you maintain it daily. but if you are having company that will need frequent use of key, then i sugest that you make a copy and give it to the person, that way no one else will see your hiding spot and enter your home. breaking and entering is almost legal, if the person has the key, it is only entering.
Reply:if you have a carpet, place it in the corner of it .take a dore out ,hide in front .or you can tape it.
Reply:You could put the key in the soil of a potted plant (under a potted plant is too obvious). I would bury it down a few inches. It would be a good idea to bring the plant in the house while you do this so nobody else sees what you're doing. This would be a pain if you plan on getting to that key often, but if it's just for those times you lock yourself out it should do the trick.
