What kind of flowers do well in a pot and keep with moderate exposure to sun?
Need ideas for good potting flowers?
African violets are a good indoor plant with a lot of variety in flower color. Kalanchoe, hoya, clivia and begonia will also flower indoors. I would stay away from orchids -- the vast majority of people who obtain these enjoy one bloom cycle and never see another. It takes work to get these to rebloom and unless you want to get serious, you should probably stick to other kinds of flowers. Cyclamen will give you an orchid-like bloom, and it will be a repeat performer. Also try rex begonia for the sheer variety in leaf patterns -- as beautiful as any flower and easy to take care of. For foliage plants, mother in law tongue for vertical accents and pothos and philodendron to fill in the shelves. If you have room for a big plant on the floor, try a potted palm. It gives a nice tropical accent to your dorm and it is very hardy.
Reply:Some orchids are gr8, I have 10 in my room. Or peace lilies, african violes, cala lilies, succulents like hens and chicks, flowering cactus like the holiday catus, bromiliads don't usually flower but they have bracs that look like flowers. These following ones don't flower but I love them palms, and Mother-In-Law Tongue, lucky bamboo, bamboo, Elephant ear, and Caladiums.
Reply:Choose a nice pretty pot, to match the floers and i would place them under some shade outside the front of your house, to welcome people when they come in!
Reply:With afternoon shade, you can choose a fuchsia. The hanging fuchsias are spectacular!
