Why does my miniature pinscher (8 months old) keep peeing on a vertical object? How to stop this?

He pees against shoe racks, car tyres, flower pots and cabinets.

If it is a male, get used to it he is marking his territory, sometimes having them neutered helps to curtail this problem, otherwise I would discipline him every time he does it, but only if you catch him in the act. Otherwise he will have no clue what he did wrong.
Reply:Heard such case first time.

congrat's u have a very creative and innovative.
Reply:Smack his bum or get used to it. I have one that's 2 years old and he still pees on everything including the laundry-basket and the sofa.
Reply:He is sending out a postcard to all his neighbors. His scent has his age , gender and sexual status built in. He marks on vertical objects so the others now how big he is. My Doberman can get his scent way higher than yours so when another dog smells it high up on the car tire he makes a mental note that this scent belongs to a BIG dog.
Reply:Bur a one dimensional house
Reply:well, if he is so miniature, you can easily wipe off with a kleenex

really, it's instinct

you may have changed that in a dog's school or whatever those domestication camps are called
Reply:You don't say if he is outside or indoors, but I'm assuming this is a problem inside. Have you the ability to install a doggie door so he always has access to going outside?

It worked very well with my dog and whenever he had an accident in the house I scolded him and told him, "OUTSIDE"!

It didn't take long before he was going out to do his business.

Anywhere he has gone inside the house should be washed thoroughly with bleach and water to take HIS smell away from it. Male dogs use this as a marking their terrority method so it's best to encourage him to go outside.
Reply:well is he neutered. he isnt peeing he is marking his territory. he is saying that the object is his. u need to neuter him. but even if u do neuter him he might just still do it. so u need to neuter him and train him
Reply:Is he neutered? If not he's marking his territory. Neutering may well help, but once they start to mark it's not 100% he will stop. It should get a lot better though.
