The plant is two years old. I water and feed it with a wick. The pot is small, the plant rootbound.
African Violets--how do you make them flower? Mine has beautiful leaves but hasn't flowered since I bought it
The commonest reason why saintpaulias don't flower is lack of light. Make sure your plant is in the brightest place possible - but not in the sun. They need twelve hours light each day to stimulate flowering. Mine have just started flowering. A two year old plant should be in a pot about 3 - 4 inches across. Being a bit root-bound should not bother it too much but make sure it does not dry out, a common problem with root-bound plants.
Reply:I can hardly see the leaves of my African Violet because of its flowers covering them! It stands on a window sill without the curtains being drawn, so has continual ordinary light without direct sun shine. I keep it watered, from the bottom, about once a fortnight. I have only fed it a couple of times with baby bio since I have had it - about 4 years. There are a few months in the year when it doesn't flower.
Perhaps you are feeding it too much and causing too much leaf growth, to the detriment of the flowers? You don't say where you have positioned it.....I found that before I had mine in full light I got a lot less flowers.
Hope it springs into flower soon.
