Im doing a biology project on if putting plastic over the flower pot, would it affect the growth of plants. And im asking if plants release oxygen then it would go right back to them. Would that help them or harm.
Do plants Release Oxygen, is oxygen good for them?
like CO2 for humans, O2 is a waste product. O2 for humans is like CO2 for plants. Its simple biology
Reply:During photosynthesis, which happens in the presence of light, O2 is released and energy is created. A plant makes it's own energy so that it will have energy to live and grow. When it is using this energy it is using O2. So is oxygen helpful or harmful? I would say necessary. The role the plastic may play would have to do with CO2. CO2 is converted to cellulose (C6H12O6) during photosynthesis. Eventually all the CO2 in the air would be used and the plant would no longer be able to make it's own energy for survival.
Reply:it's probably similar to covering oneself with plastic. kinda hard to imagine that something that's good for us, would be bad for other kinds of living things, right?
Reply:They take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen
