What kind of flowers do well in 8 hours of full sun in southern California?

I need flowers for pots or planters, so only about 8 inches of soil. Annuals only and no succulents. Thanks!

bachelor buttons (gomphrena globosa) depending on the variety size is 9in - 2ft tall x 6-8in spread, doesn't like shade or poor drainage, dwarf variety 'Buddy' is purple, variety series called 'gnome' is in pink, white, and shades of purple



periwinkle or annual vinca (catharanthus roseus) at least 6 hrs full sun %26amp; well draiinging soil, 6-12in tall x 12-24in spread, colors are white,pink, purple, hot pink, lavender, deep rose



verbena (verbena x hubrida) at least 6 hrs full sun %26amp; well drained soil, 4-12in tall x 12-18in spread, colors are white, pink, purple, magenta, bi-color, red, blue
